Svartalfheim was one of the early realms we started developing for God of War Ragnarök. By this time the previous God of War had come out and a clear look had been set for many of the other realms, this meant we needed to find an identity for Svartalfheim that could stand on its own next to the other realms people knew and loved. The wetlands appeared early on as an idea from Level Design and it served as a great way to introduce you to a new realm. Mark Castanon, Abe Taraky, Annis Naeem and I all did an early pass on this, it was great to see what stuck from each of our takes to make the final look. I'll be posting some earlier sketches on this down the road.
